Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October 1964 was a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and is the highest-ranking female politician in U.S history. A member of Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and was an United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney-General of California in 2010, and reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be a senator in the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for health reform, federal descheduling for cannabis, a path for undocumented immigrants to become citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
